The First of Ten New Minibuses for Ealing Community Transport

Last week SCW’s Paul Dedman had the pleasure of delivering the first of ten brand-new wheelchair accessible minibuses to the team at Ealing Community Transport.

This new vehicle, based on the Mercedes Sprinter L3H2 can transport up to 12 passengers plus driver or 6 wheelchairs with seats removed. The passenger saloon features a variety of removable seats and tip & turn seats all upholstered in a grey wipe clean material with colourful yellow piping and headrests. Other features include rear saloon heating and air conditioning, a front-entry design with a cut in step and a PLS underfloor tail lift. Ealing Community Transport is the founding part of ECT Charity who are one of the UK’s leading providers of community transport. The charity carried out over 360,000 trips per year for communities in Ealing, West London, Cheshire and Dorset. Their new vehicles will be put work work within a number of fantastic services such as:

  • Door to door service which provides transport to people within the borough who find it difficult to use standard public transport

  • Group transport for local community groups

  • Adult day centre transport

  • Home to school transport for children with special educational needs and disabilities

  • Front-entry design with specialist SCW cut in step and automatic step light

  • SCW Flat Floor design overlaid in wood-effect non-slip lino

  • Driver’s seat with night blind

  • Wheelchair restraint box fitted behind the driver’s seat

  • 12 passenger seats (removable seats and tip & turn seats) plus driver

  • Facility to carry up to 6 wheelchairs with seats removed

  • Seats upholstered in a wipe clean grey material with yellow piping and headrests

  • Interior trimmed in soft-feel materials with yellow feature panels

  • PLS underfloor tail lift

  • Eberspaecher heating and air conditioning

  • Blue / white LED roof lighting and low-level blue LED lighting

  • High level cant rail tracking and side wall tracking

  • Heavy-duty rear door pins
