Stanfords Sprinters Head to Scotland
This week the Stanfords team took a trip up to Scotland to deliver the latest accessible Flat Floor Mercedes Sprinter to our returning local authority client’s fleet.
The brand new Mercedes Sprinter is based on the 516 L4H2 model and features our specially designed Flat Floor, allowing for unrestricted passenger and wheelchair space in the rear saloon. With an array of fantastic extra features and a colourful interior, these Sprinters are perfect for supporting a variety of the local authority’s free transport services.
About our Client
Our local authority client provides free door to door transport to residents within the community who are unable to access mainstream public transport. Their new Sprinters will operate 7 days a week undertaking a range of fully accessible journeys including shopping trips, visiting family and friends, work / education transport and general activities / outings.
The Stanford Coachworks Conversion
Each vehicle can transport up to 14 seated passengers, however this particular vehicle was delivered with just 8 removable seats as it will immediately be put to work transporting multiple disabled passengers. With all seats removed, the innovative Flat Floor design provides enough room to transport up to 5 wheelchairs at any one time.
Inside, the Sprinters feature a colourful interior with each passenger seat upholstered in an orange and grey patterned moquette. Orange accents can be found incorporated throughout the vehicles in the form of grab handles, custom-built luggage pens and our exclusive low-entry fold-out side step, which helps provide easy assisted access into the passenger saloon. To ensure that the vehicles are inclusive for all mobility requirements, we have installed an internal tail lift at the rear of the vehicle. All entrances are illuminated too by premium LED blue lighting.
Passenger safety is key for our local authority clients, so we have also installed the Phoenix ‘All Bucked Up’ system in each vehicle. The system uses a smart device, fixed to the front luggage pen, which alerts the driver if any passengers remove their seat belt.
