The first wheelchair accessible conversion in the UK on a new generation Mercedes Sprinter is here! Stanford Coachworks’ flat floor system conversion is now on the road and available for demonstrations.

At Stanford Coachworks we have designed an innovative flat floor system which eliminates any wheel arch intrusions allowing more space for passenger seats in the rear saloon. Our flat floor system is available on either the long or extra-long wheelbase new generation Mercedes Sprinter.

Base Vehicle


The demonstrator is based on a long wheelbase new generation Mercedes Sprinter and features their brand new 7G fully automatic gearbox. All rear bonded windows have been tinted for passenger privacy. The minibus can facilitate up to 16 passengers, 14 in the rear and 2 in the front cab, or 5 wheelchairs.  

 

SCW Fold Out Step


Passengers can access the minibus via the factory fitted side load door. At the entrance we have included our new style SCW fold out step for assisted entry and exit. The Abro tube handrails and all grab rails are in high visibility yellow.

Front Cab Area


The front cab area features a whole new dashboard design and the driver’s seat and passenger seats have all had their centre panels re-upholstered to match the rear saloon. SCW style switches to control the lights, tail lift and reversing alarm have been fitted above the drivers cab with a tachograph and 100kph speed limiter.

SCW Safety


For safety, Stanford Coachworks have included a nearside and rear door open warning buzzer. The buzzer will sound if any doors have been left open when the ignition is on. This ensures that the minibus is not driven without its doors secured.  

 

Rear Saloon


In the rear saloon sat on top of our M2 tested flat floor, we have fitted 14 Phoenix Blenheim passenger seats with NMI removable fixings. Upholstered in our brand new moquette is all of the seats and head rests. Additionally, the seats also feature wipe clean bases with incontinence curve. Installed to allow for high-level wheelchair passenger belt anchorage is the cant rail tracking. To cover it, patterned matching moquette has been used.

Anthracite soft feel trim lines each side of the vehicle up to the lower window line. From the window area upwards we have lined the minibus in ‘Smoke’ soft feel trim. We have lined the floor with ebony wood lino to complement the interior colour scheme. To keep passengers warm in the winter we have included a heater in the rear saloon.

 

Wheelchair Accessibility


For wheelchair occupants, a PLS underfloor split platform lift has been installed. The minibus even features a wheelchair clamp storage box to hold important wheelchair restraints.

Our number one priority is safety at Stanford Coachworks. Therefore, a certificate will be supplied to prove that it has been converted to IVA / NSSTA regulations.
