The Making of the SCW Wheelchair Accessible Minibus

Want to find out more about our bespoke wheelchair accessible conversions? Take a sneak peek behind the scenes at Stanford Coachworks.

We are pleased to share our latest wheelchair accessible minibus, converted for a returning Scottish-based Council, in build with one of our experienced coachbuilding teams. This Mercedes Sprinter is the first of six brand-new accessible vehicles being welcomed to the council’s fleet.

The Bespoke Wheelchair Accessible Conversion

Their latest conversion, based on the Mercedes Sprinter 517 L4H2, can facilitate up to 14 passengers plus driver or 5 wheelchairs with seats removed and features our exclusive fold-out low-entry side step, our specialist Flat Floor design, patterned moquette removable seating, a custom-built front luggage pen, an internal tail lift and more. Take a look at the full specification below.

Our Unique Build Process

All of our conversions are entirely handcrafted, from start to finish, by a team of just two highly-skilled coachbuilders. We even have our very own on-site seating and upholstery department! Once completed, our pre-delivery team undertake a full inspection and valet of the vehicle, ensuring that everything checks off to our customer’s individual specification.

Our unique build process allows us to expertly convert each vehicle to meet every organisation’s specific requirements. Many of the SCW team have been with us in excess of 15-years, including our father-son team of Rick and Connor who can be seen converting our latest wheelchair accessible Sprinter in the video above.
