Five Single WAVs Head to the Scottish Highlands

We are pleased to complete our latest single wheelchair accessible conversion based on the Ford Tourneo Connect. This vehicle is the first of five being delivered to our returning clients in the Scottish Highlands and will join their existing fleet of SCW Peugeot Boxer minibuses.

The Stanfords Conversion

The five new wheelchair accessible vehicles can carry up to six passengers plus the driver, or four passengers with one wheelchair user positioned in the rear. Each conversion includes a specially engineered fold-out ramp integrated into the original vehicle flooring. Paired with an electric winch, electroreels and secure restraints, it allows for smooth and effortless wheelchair loading. When the rear space is not being used for a wheelchair, two tip-and-fold seats can be deployed to accommodate additional passengers.

How Will the Vehicles Be Used?

All of our customer’s new vehicles will be put to work across the Scottish Highlands as part of local authority dial-a-bus schemes, community transport organisations and accessible taxis services. Many councils in the region also support accessible travel through the National Entitlement Card (NEC), which provides eligible residents with free travel using these new vehicles.
