e-SCW: Another Wheelchair Accessible Fully Electric Minibus
Since the announcement to halt production of all new petrol and diesel vehicles in 2030, many local authorities have been under pressure to provide greener transport solutions. To help ease the pressure off our customers, we knew that we had to begin exploring electric minibus solutions for this ever-growing market.
Last year, we began testing a variety of electric vehicles and the Stanfords team have worked incredibly hard to create a high-quality electric WAV conversion. As ever, safety is our number one concern at Stanfords, so after plenty of inspections and road testing, we decided that the brand-new Volkswagen ABT-e Transporter T6 was the perfect fit for our local authority client.
This electric WAV is based on the brand-new Volkswagen ABT-e Transporter T6.
Interior design
With a range of up to 82 miles, the Volkswagen ABT-e Transporter T6 is perfect for city-based councils running local transport schemes. Our specialist accessible conversion allows the electric Volkswagen to carry up to six passengers plus driver or one wheelchair with seats removed.

In the rear saloon we have fitted four passenger seats upholstered in a premium wipe clean fabric with e-SCW green diamond stitching and piping. To match, all three front cab seats have also been reupholstered in the same fabric and design. To continue the premium theme throughout, we have lined the interior in a grey soft feel material with black suede feature panels.

Accessibility
At Stanford Coachworks we specialise in wheelchair accessible vehicles so when we were researching and testing the range of electric vehicles, we had to factor in the additional weight relating to wheelchairs and a tail lift. The vehicle’s flooring is tracked throughout the whole passenger saloon to allow secure fitting of one wheelchair. To keep with the interior’s premium theme we have overlaid this tracking with a wood-effect lino flooring. At the rear of the minibus, we have installed a split platform internal tail lift with a custom-built wheelchair clamp storage box beside it. For the vehicles full specification, please see below.
