Bespoke WAV for a Young Adult’s Care Group

Over the years, we have worked with a variety of different health and care organisations and during this time we have converted a number of specialist vehicles specifically for clients with complex needs.

Most recently, we had the pleasure of converting a L3H2 Fiat Ducato for a group of specialist residential homes based in Bedfordshire. The group specialises in providing long-term residential care and support to young people, aged 18 and over, with complex needs such as autism or learning difficulties. Each home works closely with its young adult clients to help them achieve their aspirations. Some of the group’s specialist services include accommodation with nursing or personal care, care for individuals with learning difficulties, mental health conditions, physically disabilities and sensory impairments plus care for children or adults aged 65 and under.

When at work, the new Fiat Ducato will mostly be used to transport younger people, so we wanted to ensure that it features a fun and vibrant interior. Complete with colour-changing LED roof lighting, on-board WiFi and striking red seatbelts, we’re sure that the home’s clients will love using their new minibus!

This colourful minibus can facilitate up to eight passengers plus driver or three wheelchairs with seats removed. Each of the seven rear saloon seats have been upholstered in a wipe clean grey material with blue piping and red seat belts.

To keep their minibus looking new, we have lined the interior with a durable, hard-wearing soft-feel material and we have overlaid the tracked flooring with a premium wood-effect covering. Colourful blue accents, such as cant rail covers and feature roof panels, have also been included throughout the vehicle.

For the safety of both passengers and staff members, we have separated the rear saloon from the front cabin by installing a full-height bulkhead complete with a perspex screen.

To ensure that all of the care group’s clients, including those using wheelchairs, can easily access the minibus, we have fitted a Ricon internal tail lift inside of the rear doors. Beneath the side load door, we have also installed a pedal operated side step, complete with two high-visibility grab handles.

We wanted to make trips in the minibus as enjoyable as possible for all passengers, so we fitted our ambient Monaco-style colour-changing roof lights. Low-level comfort blue and bright white lighting has also been installed which can be controlled separately. To keep passengers entertained, on-board WiFi has also been fitted inside of the vehicle along with full rear saloon air conditioning.
