With 17 vehicle conversions and a relationship spanning over 22 years, we were delighted to deliver our 18th wheelchair accessible minibus to our friends at Uttlesford Community Travel.

The latest vehicle to join Uttlesford CT’s impressive fleet is based on the Mercedes Sprinter L4H2 which can facilitate up to 15 passengers or 5 wheelchairs with seats removed. Inside, the new minibus features colourful blue patterned seating, our exclusive low-entry fold-out side step and an internal tail lift.

Who are Uttlesford Community Travel?

Uttlesford Community Travel are a fantastic charity based in Essex who provide fully accessible transport services to the residents of Uttlesford who either find it difficult to access public transport, are over the age of 60, are disabled or are rurally isolated. Their minibuses are available to transport passengers to a variety of locations including shopping trips, medical appointments or even visits to see friends and family. All of Uttlesford CT’s minibuses are wheelchair accessible and their drivers are fully trained and DBS checked to help assist passengers if required.

Safety First for Uttlesford’s Passengers

To help protect Uttlesford CT’s passengers, all of their vehicles have been specially modified to include a variety of protective screens. This idea initially came into effect during the pandemic, when we were asked to modify one of their existing vehicles. This enabled the charity to continue carrying out their vital services. Since then, Uttlesford have decided to include this extra level of protection in their latest minibus too.

Each Stanfords conversion is entirely handcrafted, from start to finish, by a team of just two highly skilled coachbuilders. This unique process allows us to supply customers, like Uttlesford CT, with a minibus designed specifically around their organisation. Over the years, we have worked closely with Uttlesford Community Travel to create their perfect minibus, take a look at our team building their latest vehicle above!

We would like to say thank you to Uttlesford Communtiy Travel for choosing Stanford Coachworks to carry out their conversion again. We really hope that the residents of Uttlesford enjoy travelling in their brand-new minibus and we hope to work with them again on their next project.

The Making of Uttlesford CT’s New Minibus

A New Renault Master Minibus for Local Community Transport

This month we had the pleasure of delivering a brand-new Renault Master to Community360 in Colchester. Their new minibus is fully wheelchair accessible and can facilitate up to eight passengers or three wheelchairs with seats removed.

Inside, the vehicle features colourful grey and purple wipe clean seating, plus our exclusive low-entry fold-out side step, an L-shaped front luggage pen, independent passenger heating and an internal tail lift.

Who are Community 360?

Community360 is an independent charity that aims to inspire and enable social action to improve people’s quality of life. Their new minibus will be put to work within their hospital discharge service, which is contracted to support the NHS with transporting discharged patients home. This fantastic service helps relieve the pressure on Patient Transport Services (PTS) at hospitals and frees up beds quicker.

Community360 also run a community transport scheme which serves the residents of Colchester, Chelmsford and Maldon. The door to door service is available to people with limited mobility, are socially excluded or are geographically isolated, and can be used for a variety of trips including medical / dental appointments, visits to see friends and family, or for therapy sessions and learning opportunities. Additionally to this, Community360 also offer a range of popular excursions to help encourage their members to meet new people within the community, therefore reducing isolation.

We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to convert their latest minibus and we hope that the members of Community360 enjoy using the new vehicle. Thanks for choosing Stanford Coachworks!
