Henley Handy Bus Get a New Mercedes Sprinter!

This month we had the pleasure of converting a new wheelchair accessible Mercedes Sprinter for the Henley Handy Bus.

For over 30 years, the Henley Handy Bus has been supporting a variety of local services, including the 60+ social club, to provide days out, shopping trips and the opportunity to meet up with friends.

Their latest Handy Bus is based on the Mercedes Sprinter L3H2 and can facilitate 11 passengers plus driver or 1 wheelchair. Inside, the new minibus features colourful patterned blue passenger seating with grey wipe clean bases, LED interior lighting and an upper luggage storage area.

For assisted passenger entry, Henley’s minibus includes our exclusive low-entry fold-out side step plus an underfloor tail lift at the rear.

The Brand New SCW Volkswagen Caddy

We are pleased to announce that we have now completed our first wheelchair accessible conversion on the brand-new Volkswagen Caddy.

The New SCW Caddy

Although smaller than many of our other conversions, the SCW Volkswagen Caddy is a versatile vehicle that is set to be another increasingly popular addition to our range.

Wheelchair Accessibility

This conversion can transport up to 4 seated passengers plus 1 wheelchair and features a specially designed fold-out ramp which sits inside of the original vehicle flooring.

Vehicle Features

How Could a Smaller WAV Benefit Me?

  • Driver’s of smaller wheelchair accessible vehicles do not have to hold a specialist D1 driving licence

  • Smaller wheelchair accessible vehicles have lower roofs meaning that they can be parked in most height-restricted car parks

  • It is easier to manouvre a smaller vehicle if you are based in a busy city or town

  • Smaller wheelchair accessible vehicles are usually the preferred choice for families as they provide a similar environment to an ordinary car.

Behind the Scenes at SCW: Our Latest Build

We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to work with one of our returning medical charity customers to produce two brand-new Peugeot Boxer PTS ambulances for them. Take a look behind the scenes at the first vehicle being converted by one of our specialist coachbuilding teams. Stay tuned for more in the coming months!

The Bespoke Stanfords Touch

Both vehicles for our customer are completely bespoke and have been designed to meet their specific requirements.

These vehicles are proudly being converted by experienced coachbuilders Steve and Joe. Steve and Joe are both long-standing members of the SCW team and have been with us for over 20 years.
